Анотація: Since 1898, first as the American Pocket Medical Dictionary and then as Borland's Pocket Medical Dictionary, this volume has continually strived to fulfill the purpose set out in the first edition: to provide an authoritative medical reference, compact and concise, and yet complete enough to satisfy practitioner and student alike. The challenge grows greater with each edition, as the scope and language of medicine expand, but the goal remains the same for this 29th edition
To that end, the format of the dictionary has been redesigned to enhance its portability and durability while keeping its contents complete and readable. The new shape allows more entries to fit into a volume that is decreased in bulk and is easier to carry and use. The much-praised illustrations added in the last edition have been thoroughly revised and increased in number. Tables have been updated to reflect the latest information; in the case of the chemical elements, information has been incorporated into the text of individual entries for easier access. The 32- page anatomical insert has been greatly enhanced by the inclusion of 19 Plates that combine 37 different drawings from the Netter collection, the world’s most esteemed and well-loved source of medical illustration
