Such patients quite often have the anomalies of the genital system. It is the anomalies in the development of connective tissue structures of the venous wall and not compensated state of the valve apparatus that lead to varicocele. The prevalence of varicocele among infertile patients reaches 40 %, whereas male population in general has this disease only in 15 % of cases. Changes in GAG content may reflect the functional status of the semen, which ensures normal spermatogenesis.
