Among substances of a natural origin, the endogenous pigment melanin fell into focus — a polyphenolic compound, which anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, stress-protective, anti-ulcer actions have been demonstrated. However, effects of melanin in acid-associated diseases of the digestive tract accompanied by hypoacidic gastric juice, remains unrevealed. It is known that reduced acidity of gastric juice can lead to formation of malignant neoplasms of stomach glands.
