Today, an obstetric student is expected to understand and interpret in addition to the fundamentals, Partographs (ch.12, 26, 34), Ultrasonographs (ch. 40), Fetal well-being in Pregnancy (ch. 11, 31) and in Labour (ch. 38), Counselling strategy (ch.10), Prenetal genetic diagnosis (ch. 11, 32), Psychological care (ch. 29) and also the legal and ethical issues related to these areas (ch. 39). Again the introduction of "core curricula" aims to impart the essential knowledge, skills and attitude within a limited time frame. Above all the author of this text (see the preface of the first edition) believed that, teaching and learning process should be free, easy and simple without any ambiguity or complexities.
