Аннотация: Improvement of the quality of training the students of higher medical institutions is connected with the improvement of forms and methods of teaching subjects, as well as the introduction of the latest achievements of modern forms, learning the high standard and control of the level of knowledge. The materials presented in this textbook are based on the program of studying the subject “Obstetrics and Gynecology” on the position of evidence-based medicine and the transition to the Bologna process. Orders of Ministry of Public Health of Ukraine “On the Organization of Inpatient Obstetric and Neonatal Care in Ukraine”, as well as modern methods of diagnosis and treatment of gynecological patients are used in the textbook. Each unit contains test tasks and clinical cases with answers to check up the students’ knowledge. At the end of each subunit there is the list of practical skills that the students should master. For students of higher medical education institutions of the 3rd–4th levels of accreditationПоліпшення якості підготовки студентів у вищих медичних навчальних закладах пов’язане з удосконаленням форм і методів викладання предметів, а також з упровадженням новітніх досягнень, засвоєнням сучасних форм навчання та контролю за рівнем знань. Матеріал викладено з урахуванням програми вивчення предмету “Акушерство і гінекологія” із позицій доказової медицини та переходу до Болонського процесу. У підручнику використано накази МОЗ України “Про організацію надання стаціонарної акушерсько-гінекологічної та неонатологічної допомоги в Україні”, висвітлено сучасні методи діагностики та лікування гінекологічних хворих. Кожний підрозділ містить тестові завдання та ситуаційні задачі. Наприкінці кожного підрозділу наведено перелік практичних навичок, якими повинен володіти студент. Для студентів вищих медичних навчальних закладів III—IV рівнів акредитації

Chapters focus on complications and diseases, firstly in obstetrics and then in gynaecology. In all of the chapters there are numerous diagrams, tables and photographs to help explain the topic more clearly. The anatomy is also mentioned within chapters and in a stand-alone chapter at the end which is very useful. ... This is the best book in this speciality that I have come across and I would highly recommend it.

Аннотация: Since my publication of Textbook of Obstetrics about 5 years back, I have been pressed hard by my esteemed colleagues and the students all over the country and abroad to write a textbook on gynaecology of similar style to fill up the deficit. Initially, I was hesitant to proceed with the stupendous task but considering the fact that a compact, comprehensive and practical-oriented fundamental book in gynaecology is not available to the undergraduates, I have decided to comply with their request. The book has been written in a lucid language in author’s own style. Extensive diagrams, photographs, and flow-charts (schemes) have been depicted throughout the text to give clarity of the subject. Due attention has been paid to project the fundamental principles and practice of gynaecology. As such, more emphasis has been given on medical gynaecology. But for that, indications, limitations, and principles of techniques of operations have received adequate consideration. The book is thus made invaluable not only to the medical students but also the practising physicians and students of Nursing.
