Аннотация: Under current conditions in the sphere of improvement of the quality of student training at higher medical education institutions and deepening of thear knowledge in the field of obstetrics it becomes absolutely necessary to publish textbooks, which cover the issues of obstetrics and correspond to current education programs. The textbook has been created according to the new obstetrics curriculum and in accordance with the Bologna process requirements. The book describes the latest achievements of Ukrainian and world obstetric science, deals with physiological aspects of pregnancy and childbirth, major factors of etiology, pathogenesis, clinical presentation, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases during pregnancy, labor and postpartum period. Fundamentals of obstetric care in Ukraine are presented considering orders of the MPH of Ukraine, clinical protocols, standards of medical education. For students of higher medical education institutions of the 3rd–4th levels of accreditation

Intervention rates continue to climb; women in the developed world embark on pregnancy later in life and with more complex medical disorders. The tenth edition brings this highly regarded book completely up to date whilst retaining its characteristic concision and readability
The book starts off with a chapter on history taking and examination which is a good introduction to this speciality. From there, the normal physiology of menstruation right through to child birth is well explained. This seems like a logical progression. Chapters focus on complications and diseases, firstly in obstetrics and then in gynaecology. In all of the chapters there are numerous diagrams, tables and photographs to help explain the topic more clearly. The anatomy is also mentioned within chapters and in a stand-alone chapter at the end which is very useful. ... This is the best book in this speciality that I have come across and I would highly recommend it.
