Анотація: The textbook contains basic data on all nuclear medicine sections: fundamentals of radiation physics and radiation-matter interactions, mechanisms of biologic effects of radiation from primary ionizations and atomic excitation to clinical manifestations at the tissue and organism levels, pathophysiology and clinical presentation of local and total irradiation of man, stochastic effects of low-dose irradiation and peculiarities of radiation injuries in internal irradiation by in corporated radionuclides. Special attention is paid to provision of safe application of radiation in medicine, where population receives the major portion of all anthropogenic irradiation. For the first time the concept of safety culture is introduced in radiation medicine, which concerns the main role of human psychology both in safe use of all benefits given by radiation and in occurrence of nuclear incidents of different scale and socio-economic and medical consequences. Clinical sections of radiation medicine are illustrated by examples from authors’own experience. У підручнику вміщено базові відомості з усіх розділів радаіційної медицини: основи фізики іонізованих випромінень і їх взаємодії з матерією, механізми їхніх біологічних ефектів від первинних іонізацій і збудження атомів до клінічних проявів на тканинному і організменному рівнях, патофізіологія і клініка уражень від загального і місцевого опромінення людини, схоластичні ефекти низьких доз опромінення і особливості радіаційних уражень за внутрішнього опромінення від інкорпорованих радіонуклідів. Структура і зміст підручника відповідають розділам навчальної програми з цієї дисципліни, затвердженої МОЗ України. Для студентів вищих медичних закладів освіти ІІІ-ІV рівнів акредитації та лікарів-інтернів усіх спеціальностей, практичних лікарів, викладачів та всіх зацікавлених питаннями ролі радіації в забезпеченні людства благами і рівня загроз від неї.

У підручнику викладені сучасні досягнення медичної радіології, методи візуалізації в прменевій діагностиці, принципи отримання діагностичних зображень, променева діагностика захворювань органів і систем, алгоритми променевих досліджень, тестові завдання і ситуаційні задачі. Анотація: The textbook contains basic information on all sections of radiation medicine: basics of physics of ionizing radiation, radiation dosimetry, radiometry, radiation safety, information on the radiation situation that developed after the Chernobyl accident. The question of the influence of ionizing radiation on the human body is considered, the information on radiation sickness, low doses effects and long-term consequences of ionizing radiation is given. The issues of population dispensary examination and maintenance of the State Register are covered. Particular attention is paid to the modem concept of anti-radiation nutrition and means that promote the elimination of radionuclides from the body. The textbook is written in accordance with the program of the discipline “Radiation Medicine” for the training specialists of the second (Master's Degree) level of higher education according to the requirements for textbooks for students of higher medical education of Ukraine III—IV levels of accreditation. It may be useful for interns, clinical residents and university students in the study of disciplines of general biological and ecological profiles
